Thanks pablo! Excellent questions as always. It is treated lumber, we plan to stain it to match the deck. I haven't yet decided how to keep it upright. The plans call for wooden stakes driven into the ground then fastened to the uprights.
You'll have to ask my wife what will be growing on it. When we lived in town I built a variation of this arbor and she had morning glories and climbing roses growing on it.
